International Functional Fitness Federation

Development Program

The IF3 Development Program helps develop functional fitness governance and National Federations in regions of the world that are new to the sport or lack formal sports-governance structures. It lets event organizers run international events under the IF3 banner and according to IF3 rules.

How to Take Part

Program Requirements

  • The event must be international — 30%+ of competitors in at least one category from outside the host nation, or competitors from 3+ continents.
  • Competitive events use an official IF3 format (Medley, Hypermedley, etc.) with IF3-approved programming; demonstrations may use other approved formats.
  • Events use IF3 Movement Standards and only movements in that document (scaled exceptions allowed for beginners, non-competitive events and demos).
  • Athletes from countries without a recognized National Federation attend a sports-governance presentation explaining what an NF is and why governance matters.
  • The organizer pays a sanctioning fee to IF3.
  • The organizer covers the IF3 sports-governance presentation — either travel and accommodation for IF3 staff, or a suitable virtual environment for all athletes.
  • The organizer is responsible for all event costs, management and execution; IF3 only approves that programming and format meet IF3 rules.
  • The organizer carries insurance listing IF3 as additional insured.
  • Athletes sign participation and liability waivers releasing IF3, agreeing to IF3/WADA anti-doping rules, with disputes settled by binding arbitration through the Court of Arbitration for Sport.
